Stacks was a helluva player! Pissed me off that he never joined Kobe! All Kobe needed was 1 Dawg to get the Lakers to thepromised land. Just 1, and I'd always felt Stacks game and mental approach and all out tenacity was PERFECT for Kobe and the Lakers organization. Stak wouldve been good if the team lacked scoring off the bench but SA was a team that was a well oiled machine that incorporated a lot of passing, screening and cutting. Sports in general has this illusion that if someone doesn't perform on a high or expected level then their skills aren't as good or that they are even a bust. Very rarely do you see analysts (non pros ) make the huge point that if a player is in the wrong system, they have no control over it and therefore can not show their true potential. In other words the player is blamed for the teams inapt leadership abilities. I believe if someone like Dak went to a team where top to bottom they had their shit together, his skill would appreciate in all areas. This came to full thought when I watched this. Stephan explained how a coach reduced his value by limiting his playing time but by doing it in a particular way where it was impossible for him to produce but not hurt the team. It's Pop's job to have a cohesive unit and play players the correct amount of minutes. They keep talking about rhythm and minutes and not getting enough touches. Well that's the job if you're coming off the bench. Some guys are built for that to where they're always ready and can come in and hit shots, some guys aren't. If you can do the job, the coach has a spot for you.
