That was the thing about Phil, you saw it with the Bulls, and then again with the Lakers. He pushed buttons, he did his thing, but he let players be themselves. I'm as big a Laker fan as there is, I lived every moment of those seasons, and I don't recall hearing a single word about Phil and Metta (at the time) going at it. With sooooo many other coaches that would have been a big deal. Phil didn't care, he wanted to know where your buttons were so he could work with you to focus your game.
